TCM has a strong regard toward preventive medicine and delaying the aging process with the focus of maintaining one's optimal health and preserving longevity.
Traditionally the main focus was to restore youth for health purposes. More recently acupuncture has become popular as a cosmetic procedure that is very safe and cost effective with good prospects and results.
Most importantly the cosmetic intervention does not just involve skin care but also general health as cosmetics and internal health are not seen as separate in TCM.
Acupuncture is the gentle insertion of hair thin needles at key acupoints on the body to increase circulation, release pain relieving endorphins and reduce inflammation.
Benefits of acupuncture include managing pain, improving digestion, deeper and more restful sleep as well as helping with stress and mental health issues such as anxiety and depression.
During your first visit a thorough health history is taken, we will answer any questions and create your custom treatment plan. You should allow at least 75 minutes for your initial visit and 45 minutes for follow up treatments.
Cupping therapy was used in ancient Greece, Egypt and China. It creates a vacuum effect on connective tissue & muscles to draw up old non circulating blood and toxins so that healthy circulation can be restored to the area.
Cupping is effective for pain, stiffness and detoxifying as well as relieving cold and flu symptoms.
Cupping leaves cup marks on the skin that look like bluish black bruises that are not tender or painful and fade within in a few days. The color of the marks range from bright red to dark purple and depend on the level of stagnation in the area.
